AITPAfrica in the Picture (AITP) is an independent film festival and platform for African and African Diaspora Cinema. Every year AITP organizes a film festival showcasing a unique selection of films from all over the world. The 15th edition will take place at Cultuurpark Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam from 19 till 28 October 2012. AITP is organized by the registered non-profit organization Notorious Film Distributie. AITP wants to contribute to the development of African and African Diaspora Cinema by promoting and spreading films (in the Netherlands, in the rest of Europe and at the African continent) and by offering an international platform for cinematographic professionals. By showing a modern Africa from the perspective of African filmmakers, AITP strives to inspire people in the Netherlands in developing a more complete and realistic world view. There is no charge for submitting films. A selection committee is in charge of the selection process and their decisions are unquestionable. To be selected the film must fulfil the following conditions: - Submitted by post or courier service before the deadline: June 20, 2012 – including a preview DVD, printed and signed entry form and a press kit including at least two different film stills for the catalogue (300 dpi print quality) - Produced after January 1st 2011, except films selected for special programs - Directed from an African or African Diasporic point of view - Deal with a subject related to African and African Diasporic realities and cultures - Availability of a screening copy with English or Dutch subtitles and/or voice-over and/or dialogues. - Availability of a screening copy on one of the following formats: 35 mm, DigiBeta, DV-CAM, MiniDV or hard disk. All the films selected for the festival, except older films that are part of special programs, automatically compete for the AITP Audience Awards for Best Feature (€ 1.000,-) for Best Short (€ 500,-) or for best student film (€ 250,-).
VERSION FRANCAISE Africa in the Picture (AITP) est un festival de film indépendant ét une plateforme pour le Cinéma de l'Afrique et de la Diaspora africaine. Chaque année AITP organise un festival de film présentant une unique sélection de films de partout dans le monde. La 15e édition aura lieu au Cultuurpark Westergasfabriek à Amsterdam du 19 au 28 Octobre 2012. AITP est organisé par Notorious Film Distributie, une organisation à but non lucratif. AITP veut contribuer au développement du Cinéma de l'Afrique et de la Diaspora africaine par la promotion et la diffusion des films (aux Pays-Bas, dans le reste de l'Europe et sur le continent africain) et en offrant une plate-forme internationale pour les professionnels cinématographiques. En montrant une Afrique moderne du point de vue des cinéastes africains, AITP s'efforce d'inspirer les gens aux Pays-Bas dans l'élaboration d'une vision du monde plus équilibrée et plus réaliste. Il n'y a pas de frais à payer pour soumettre un film. Un comité de sélection est en charge du processus de sélection et sa décision est indiscutable. Pour être sélectionné, le film doit remplir les conditions suivantes: - Soumis par la poste avant la date limite: le 1er Juin 2012 - avec un preview DVD, une copie imprimée et signée du formulaire d’inscription et un dossier de presse avec au moins deux images photos du film (300 dpi, qualité d’impression) - Produit après le 1er Janvier 2011, sauf les films sélectionnés pour les programmes spéciaux - Réalisé d'un point de vue de l’Afrique ou de la Diaspora africaine - Traiter un sujet lié aux réalités et aux cultures de l'Afrique et ou de la Diaspora africaine. - Disponibilité d’une copie de projection avec sous-titres et / ou voix-off et / ou des dialogues en anglais ou en néerlandais - Disponibilité d’une copie de projection sur l'un des formats suivants : 35 mm, DigiBéta, DV-CAM, MiniDV ou disque dur. Tous les films sélectionnés pour le festival, à l'exception des films plus vieux qui font parti des programmes spéciaux, sont automatiquement en compétition pour les prix du public pour meilleur long métrage (€ 1.000, -), pour meilleur court métrage (€ 500, -) et pour le meilleur film d’étudiant (€ 250, -). Africa in the Picture (AITP) is an annual film festival in Amsterdam showcasing a unique selection of films from the African continent and its Diaspora. African filmmakers from all over the world are welcome to submit their work for the 15th Edition of the festival which will take place from 19 till 28 October 2012.
