Goeast _ Festival Of Central And Eastern European Film

Every year since goEast was founded by Deutsches Filminstitut in 2001, the festival has provided an annual showcase for filmmaking in Central and Eastern Europe. During the festival week from 18.04 to 24.04.2012 goEast presents in Wiesbaden for the twelfth time a wealth of cinematic breadth and its variety: current tendencies, experimental positions, and historical rarities, always against the background of socio-political, film-aesthetic and film-theoretical debates. The goEast programme is divided into seven sections. Each meticulously curated section is supported by festival correspondents and experts; the competing films are nominated by a selection committee. All the sections includes diverse genres and aesthetic styles, and documentary film has meanwhile carved out a well-deserved niche alongside the features.

15th goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Films

Festival presentation:

goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Films

Hosted by Deutsches Filminstitut, the goEast Film Festival turns 15!

On seven days, from the 22th until the 28th of April 2015, Central and Eastern European filmmaking will be presented in the state capital Wiesbaden. Against the background of socio-political, film aesthetic and theoretical debates there will be shown current trends, new positions and historic film rarities.

This year’s edition will be focusing on filmmaking in times of conflict and as a means of promoting peace and democratisation.

Through its programme, goEast represents its cultural mission: exceptional, unconventional and engaging films, that are still under-represented in regular cinemas, get to be viewed publicly. The high quality of the festival programme as well as the unique festival atmosphere enthuses international guests, representatives of the film industry and local audiences alike.
