The MWFF to honour Mel Hoppenheim

The 36th Montreal World Film Festival announces that it will honour Mel Hoppenheim with its Grand Prize of the Americas. "There are few men in our cinema with the Mel Hoppenheim's stature," declared MWFF president Serge Losique. Four Days of Therapy for the Population

Montreal's Concordia University is filled with creative, ambitious and radical young artists and academics. The Students of Philosophy Association, SoPhiA, is reaching out to this rich and varied community with their first Film Festival. Over the course of four days, the festival organizers aim to screen at least twelve outstanding films from around the world:

"We are looking for short films of all kinds (shorts, fiction, documentary, and everything in between) to be shown at the festival, titled "Four Days of Therapy for the Population". It is a festival which should be the basis for questioning the human condition. We want to create a place where questions are posed, and discussion blooms. The major themes are centered around relational human experience: in relation to oneself, (identity), to others, and finally in relation to the objective world."

Any and all submissions will be considered (French or English)
