Three US Film Festivals To Launch QR Code Campaigns

For the first time in the US, three film festivals, two on the west coast and one on the east coast, will be using QR Codes on a variety of material to bridge the physical world with the digital world. The Port Townsend Film Festival (September 24-26), the New Hampshire Film Festival (October 14-17) and the Edmonds International Film Festival (October 20-24) will permit individuals to snap a QR Code with their smart phone cameras from a number of items: newspaper ads, posters, passes, program guides, tickets, t-shirts, temporary tattoos,  chocolates, cookies, cupcakes, etc. Within a couple of seconds, iPhone, Blackberry, Droid users will be watching  film trailers, video interviews, accessing websites and/or downloading information.

"One more facet of the technology diamond, QR codes will appear on our poster (go to our website and purchase your pass!), in our program (instant access to trailers)," states Janette Force, Executive Director
Port Townsend Film Festival, "and building thru out our Victorian seaport (history of this marvelous corner of the world).  We look forward to exploring more applications for this intriguing code."

"We are excited to provide our attendees and our filmmakers and even richer experience by integrating QR codes to deliver information about our independent films," said NHFF Marketing Director Brian DeKoning. "It's enlightening and affirming to see festivals such as Edmonds and Port Townsend also leading the way on this technology."

"At the Edmonds International Film Festival we are thrilled to learn of the capabilities of QR code," explains Trevor Greenfield,  Co-Founder & Festival Director.  "To embrace this technology is a no brainer but really we're just starting to figure out how to use it to offer our audiences more interaction with the films - on our posters, in our ads, in our program... where can you not use QR Code?"

About PTFF

The Port Townsend Film Festival brings independent films and filmmakers to our entire community and the communities we touch through our families, schools, government and community organizations. We produce learning events where those of us with a bit of talent, curiosity and desire can work and learn with more experienced artists in the vast field of practice necessary for creating stories with media.  The PTFF sponsors, promotes, gathers and curates an archive of narrative and documentary film from the story makers in our own Pacific Northwest. http://www.ptfilmfest.com/ (Facebook)

About NHFF

The New Hampshire Film Festival is a four-day cultural experience set in the fall foliage of picturesque Portsmouth, NH. One of the largest film fests in New England, NHFF draws celebrities, Academy-Award winners, film industry veterans and local film lovers. NHFF offers workshops and discussions for young and new filmmakers to interact with industry pros and to learn the art and business of film. Held the weekend after Columbus Day, NHFF drew an estimated 9,000 attendees and 80 films in 2009. Further information available online at http://www.nhfilmfestival.com/ Advertising and sponsorship opportunities are available by calling 603.647.6439. (Facebook, Twitter)

About EIFF

Edmonds is a charming waterfront town with a terrific artsy downtown. The Edmonds International Film Festival will focus on enlightening but more uplifting comedies, romances and lighter dramas as well as environmental documentaries. The festival will provide the maximum amount of exposure to filmmakers and films, and spend the most amount of time with just a few dozen films a year. High quality and in-depth, not quantity.  http://www.edmondsfilmfestival.com/ (Twitter)
