Can the means used to resolve the conflict in South Africa be applied to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict? As someone who experienced both conflicts firsthand, Robi Damelin wonders about this. Born in South Africa during the apartheid era, she later lost her son, who was serving with the Israeli Army reserve in the Occupied Territories. At first she attempted to initiate a dialogue with the Palestinian who killed her child. When her overtures were rejected, she embarked on a journey back to South Africa to learn more about the country’s Truth and Reconciliation Committee in overcoming years of enmity. Robi’s thought-provoking journey leads from a place of deep personal pain to a belief that a better future is possible.

The 66th Edinburgh International Film Festival announced the winners of its awards today at a prestigious ceremony held at Filmhouse, hosted by Grant Lauchlan of STV Moviejuice. Following a highly successful inaugural year, the Edinburgh Short Film Festival will again showcase the best Scottish, UK & International
short films in cinemas and film venues across the stunning city of Edinburgh in June 2012 and we are now open for submissions to this year's festival.
There will be free talks and seminars on films and film-making hosted by the Ragged University as well as continuing to host our lively film-maker networking sessions and other social events following the screenings.

The event is scheduled for early June and screenings will take place in cinemas and film venues across the city.
Films of all genres and budgets will be considered. Please note the following points:
- Fees £10 per films (maximum length 25 minutes)
- The deadline for film submissions is Friday May 4th 2011, and details of the film program will be posted on our website shortly after this date.
- Please don’t submit your only copy! Discs cannot be returned!
- Entrants may submit more than one film.
- All successful entrants will be informed in May.
