Save the Date for a Better Time – 2021 UMFF in August!

With more and more people got vaccinated worldwide, we have been gaining hope for getting our life back soon in 2021. More and more public locations opened gradually sent us the optimistic signal of having our festival event on site this year. We couldn’t wait any longer to see our filmmaker friends from all over the world to gather again in the beautiful SoCal, and we have our faith in having it this year.

As an international film festival with a long history of 17 years, Universe Multicultural Film Festival has welcomed filmmakers from all over the world every April since 2003. Unfortunately, the 2020 edition is the only time the festival has been bypassed later that year. With hope in mind, the UMFF committee still plans to hold the 2021 Universe Multicultural Film Festival in April. According to the global travel ban and the latest submission status, after a serious board discussion, we have to announce again that the 2021 UMFF will be postponed to August and will be combined with our sister festival - the 2021 San Diego International Kids' Film Festival.

This decision will help all filmmakers who fail to complete post-production within the regular deadline and will also have the opportunity to see the borders of the world open again. The significance of holding and participating in a film event is that people worldwide will meet each other, share the same dream in life, and create amazing things together. We thank the participants, the audience, and all those who supported last year's festival for their submissions and participation. The online award ceremony showed that the UMFF committee attaches great importance to the festival, and how the filmmakers cherish this great opportunity of exposure even in such a challenging era.

At this point, please do not hesitate to submit your film projects, documentaries, TV dramas, music videos, and different types of scripts through online platforms before July 31. UMMF will continue to invite Hollywood professionals as jurists and recognize all outstanding projects. At the 2021 Universe Multicultural Film Festival, take the first step towards the industry and shine your talents! Rule number one of being a successful creative people is to be seen, we have the stage ready for you here in Los Angeles.

Come to this festival from August 27 to August 29. All your dreams can be true by a simple decision. We still have to keep moving forward to embrace a better life without being pulled by the past, set foot on the journey and see you soon!
