TranScreen Filmfestival

TranScreen: Amsterdam Trans*gender Film Festival 2017 is coming!

Films, lectures, discussions, films, art, gathering and more films

Amsterdam – Preparations for TranScreen 2017, the largest transgender film festival in Europe, are in full swing. From Wednesday, September 13th to Sunday, September 17th, you can once again enjoy a diverse range of films about transgender and gender diversity. TranScreen will, like every other year, take place in Amsterdam. This time Cinema Kriterion and Filmhuis Cavia are the places to be. Block these dates in your agenda!

TranScreen is a multi-day film festival with international films on themes of transgender and/or gender diversity. During TranScreen you can enjoy feature films and shorts, mainstream and experimental, professional and community films from different countries.

TranScreen 2017 takes place from Wednesday, September 13th to Sunday, September 17th. Just like previous years TranScreen is spread over two locations in Amsterdam. The main location is Cinema Kriterion and the alternative location is Filmhuis Cavia.

Obviously, during TranScreen there is much more to do than just watch movies. We also throw:
• Q & A’s with various filmmakers,
• Lectures, with the opportunities for discussions,
• An art exhibition at Amsterdam Museum
• And of course many encounters!

TranScreen is an event in which (trans)gender diversity is the norm. A public space where everyone can be themselves in a secure environment. Regardless of gender orientation or sexual preference. A place to meet up and exchange international experiences in a relaxed and spontaneous way.

About TranScreen
The TranScreen Film Festival is a cultural and informative film festival on the theme of transgender and gender diversity. The festival aims to show qualitative and challenging films from all over the world. The aim is to increase public awareness to provide the versatility of transgender and gender diverse people.

Simultaneously TranScreen has a clear social mission. Many ‘closet’ transgender people, or those that have left that noun behind long time ago and are no longer within the transgender community, come to TranScreen. Therefore, the festival offers a special meeting. This is an important asset, the impact should not be underestimated.

So highlight the 13th to 17th of September in your agenda and make it to: TranScreen!
