Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Emanuelle Béart awarded the Stella della Mole on a noble mission, presenting her documentary about child abuse at TFF

French actress Emanuelle Béart received the Stella della Mole award for her entire carrier at the TFF.

Seductive, innocent, charming, a vamp, desired by all men. These have been the adjectifs for the French actress best known from films like "Une femme française".

A new facette of her I discovered at the TFF. Courageous!

And a hidous thruth. Incest!

Emanuelle Béart is premiering in Torino her documentary "Un silencence si bruyant" which she co-directed. She stands before and for the very first time behind the camera. She is one of them, she is has been sexually abused, in her case it was her grand father. "If my father would not have taken me away, I might not have survided" she says at the Q&A after the screening.

Silence in the audience, her trauma is touching everybody. Her case is not a singular one she adds, unfortunatelly rather frecvent. Three other victims, three further cases are presented in the documentary, one victim is a mann, raped by both parents over several years.

This documentary is part of the healing process for Emanuelle. A necessary step.

She stands up as a popular figure, as a known actress she wants to be a role model for others, to encourage other victims to speak out, to denounce their predators "If Emanuelle did it, I can also do it" she says.

The documentary is meant to reach the masses. It was meant for the popular French television channel M6. It has been later adapted for the big screen when inquieries came from Australia, the Philippines and China to acquire it.

At the end she says:"We must make it public, the topic must be discussed, we must show our solidarity with the victims"

Emanuelle Béart is on a mission in Torino, her mission is noble and not impossible.
