Venice Film Festival is only a week away and Machete is going to be there! - I can't wait to see that film ever since I saw the trailer to it in Grindhouse :) ![]() Waving the FlagAnother day, another Tarantino google news alert in my in-box informing me that QT has been accused of eating one of my superb chocolates…. Over the past few days I have received 25 e-mails that he’s been accused by the Italian press of favouritism. However that’s all everyone is saying – no further analysis or investigation has been performed, so, I’m going to give my opinion on it - From one perspective you could say I am biased as I’m a fan, but this is a purely neutral view and I aim to give 2 different opinions, for and against, on the scandal – In the ‘for’ corner; QT awards Coppola the top prize of best film maybe he decided to do this because he perceives her to be a strong woman. From Kill Bill through to Inglorious Basterds, QT’s films have seen him focusing more strongly and exploring further this ‘strong women’ theme. Maybe he thought that by giving Coppola the top award, his agenda was to position her as being the woman waving the flag for fellow female film makers accross the globe. QT isn’t stupid he’s very on the ball and no matter how annoying he is, I percieve him to be a very interesting man… Although looking at it from the other side, maybe he was having a funny 5 minutes and it is all down to favouritism – especially since he awarded a shed load of other top awards to his best mates. End of the day, as has been quoted before from a response to one of my previous blogs; we will never know. He says everything was fair – I’ve set myself the task of seeing all of the films which won Venice and I’ll try and see where he’s coming from. Ooh it will be like writing another film studies essay 18.09.2010 | The Film Festival Doctor's blog Cat. : CDATA Entertainment Entertainment Film Human Interest Human Interest Inglourious Basterds Over Qt Software Venice XML
