Abu Dhabi Film Festival

The Abu Dhabi Film Festival (ADFF), powered by twofour54, is presented each October to help create a vibrant film culture throughout the region. With a focus on Arab cinema and the wealth of emerging and established film talent from around the world, ADFF has become one of the most anticipated cultural events in Abu Dhabi, helping to enhance the Emirate as a hub of creativity.

Abu Dhabi Film Festival is committed to curating exceptional programs and engaging and educating the local community with their own and other cultures through the art of cinema. The work of Arab filmmakers is presented in competition with that of the international film industry’s most acclaimed talent.

SEA SHADOW at Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2011

UAE native director Nawaf Al-Janahi held the premier to his latest film, SEA SHADOW (2011) at Abu Dhabi Film Festival on Wednesday, 19 October 2011 in the Abu Dhabi Theater.

SEA SHADOW is a heart-felt coming-of-age story about 16 year old Mansoor who lives in a small village on the Emirati coast. Mansoor struggles between his bursting feelings of first love in a notably reserved culture and tradition where expressing one's feelings is not always easy. Instead of words, he turns to gift-giving to court the apple of his eye. But while first love brings new life, it also brings death and disappointment and Mansoor must come to terms with this rude awakening.

** Read an interview I held with Nawaf last year on his film THE CIRCLE (2009), a film that turned me into an enthusiastic fan of Nawaf's talent from the start. A must read and a must see. :-)
