First ever Channel 4 British Urban Film Festival awards to take place in September

The first ever British Urban Film Festival awards (supported by Channel 4) will take place in London's West End on 17 September, to mark the start of its' annual film festival which this year celebrates 10 years of urban independent film coverage.
The ceremony, to be hosted by Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe & Metro film editor Larushka Ivan-Zadeh, will award prizes to filmmakers and scriptwriters whose films have been showcased by the British Urban Film Festival since its’ inception from July 2005 - January 2015.
2 honorary awards will also be handed out in addition to the 10 awards in categories including a people's choice award, live script reading (for 2015 only), best all-time film, best all-time documentary, best all-time short film, best all-time online short film, best all-time performance in a video, best all-time actor, best all-time actress, and best all-time director. The shortlisted nominees and awards will be voted for by a select panel of judges comprising of representatives from Channel 4 and by members of the British Urban Film Festival board.
Ade Rawcliffe from the Channel 4 Creative Diversity team said: "Channel 4 are happy to support BUFF because in order to remain relevant in an ever changing world we must ensure that we continue to seek out the very best creative voices. Voices that represent the diversity and cultural richness of contemporary British life".
The 10th annual British Urban Film Festival will officially launch on the afternoon of Thursday 17 September with the BUFF Live Script Readings at Channel 4 headquarters in Horseferry Road. The awards ceremony will be a late lunch gala affair at Ruby Blue in Leicester Square on the same day.
The full line-up of events scheduled for BUFF 2015 will be officially announced at the festival’s annual media day on Friday 21 August at Channel 4 headquarters.
