The countdown starts as Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event is approaching

With nearly 600 guests from almost 50 countries last year, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event is becoming the must-visit finale of the film industry professionals’ calendar year. 

Taking place on November 26–30, this year's Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event offers an exciting selection of public (and semi-public) presentations, conference and panel programmes on film marketing and distribution and several workshops. All this in the spirit of the latest topics relevant to film industry today. 

 

 

 

THEME OF THIS WEEKEND: MUSIC AND FILM

 

Before the official start of Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, Music Meets Film runs through  November 23–25. Featuring acclaimed film industry professionals as Mike Newell, Alexandra Harwood, Paul Tothill, Christian Vorländer and Simon Heeger in talks and masterclass sessions dedicated to film scoring, Music Meets Film will tackle creative collaboration between directors, composers and editors, and the fine art of scoring for films and trailers.

BALTIC PREVIEW | 26–27.11

 

Joint initiative of Creative Gate, Baltic Preview is a networking event for film professionals within the framework of PÖFF Shorts and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, initiated and coordinated by the Estonian Short Film Centre. The goal of the event is to showcase short films from the Baltic countries and facilitate their co-production and distribution at an international level.

During the 2-day event new short films and works in progress will be showcased from Baltic countries to invited guests – international programmers, buyers and distributors and organise roundtables to discuss short film production, distribution and financing strategies to share experience.

BLACK NIGHTS STARS | 26–28.11

 

Black Nights Stars (formerly Screen Stars Tallinn) is designed to help young actors from the Baltic Sea region to promote themselves outside their home territory, connect with international film professionals, and acquire practical skills needed in their future international career.  

This year’s Black Nights Stars programme focuses on the casting process: it looks at how the industry has changed, what are the growing opportunities for actors to be discovered, and discusses the shifting focus from film to TV. The programme consists of a variety of events: masterclasses, meetings, presentations, and networking events.

EUROPEAN GENRE FORUM | 26–30.11

 

The EGF annual cycle consists of three labs: the Directing lab in Amsterdam (spring), the Production lab in Zagreb (summer) and the final Sales and Marketing lab in Tallinn (winter).

The EGF Sales and Marketing Lab in Tallinn will feature extensive pitch training workshop by acclaimed pitch trainer Sibylle Kurz. Special sessions are focusing on topics connected to the sales & marketing of projects, including how to create an attractive project package, understanding monetisation, deals and dynamics of digital distribution. 

The Sales and Marketing Lab will finish with the long-awaited Final Pitch of the eight fresh and exciting projects from the participants of EGF 2018 training cycle.

BLACK CATWALK | 27.11

 

On November 27, the Black Nights Film Festival and Creative Gate, invites filmmakers, fashion lovers, and art enthusiasts to witness the birth of the renewed fashion event PÖFF: Black Catwalk

This year’s show is titled "Talk to Me, I’m Watching", a melting pot of film, fashion, and movement, being an ode to all the above-mentioned art forms.The event will take place at HALL, an electronic music and visual arts club.

About Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival



Started in 1997, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival has grown into one of the biggest film festivals in Northern Europe and busiest regional industry platforms, hosting more than 1000 guests and industry delegates and over 160 journalists. The festival screens around 250 features and more than 300 shorts and animations and sees an attendance of 80 000 people annually. In 2017 the festival was covered in 71 languages with a potential global media audience of over 1.1 billion people.

As of 2014 the festival holds the FIAPF accreditation for holding an international competition programme which puts the festival into the so- called A-category of film festivals, alongside other 14 festivals in the world (including Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Karlovy Vary, San Sebastian, Shanghai, Tokyo etc).  

Black Nights has an umbrella structure with two sub-festivals PÖFF Shorts and youth and children's film festival Just Film taking place concurrently with the main festival,
two off-season festivals - Haapsalu Horror and Fantasy Film Festival and Tartu Love Film Festival - and a fully-fledged film industry platform Industry@Tallinn, organised jointly with the Baltic Event Co-production market.
