Indy Autonomous Challenge Showcases World’s Fastest Autonomous Racecar at SXSW 2024 as an Innovation Award Finalist

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC), a world leading competition and research organization in autonomous mobility, will be presenting cutting edge robotics platform at the SXSW Innovation Awards Showcase. This follows the unveiling of IAC’s next-gen autonomous vehicle platform, the IAC AV-24, at CES® 2024, marking a significant milestone in high-speed autonomy. As we prepare to showcase our latest achievements and the capabilities of the IAC AV-24, we invite media to get a first-hand look at our groundbreaking robotics platform.

Since its first historic race in 2021, the IAC has assembled 10 university teams from around the globe, fostering a competitive environment to advance autonomous vehicle technology. With a strong commitment to safety, performance, and the commercialization of autonomous vehicles, the IAC has successfully propelled the development of AI drivers capable of navigating vehicles safely at speeds surpassing 190mph.

The IAC's nomination to the SXSW 2024 Innovation Awards reflects its continuous effort to inspire the next generation of STEM talent and increase public awareness about the transformational impact of automation. Our initiatives have led to groundbreaking advancements in autonomous vehicle technology, including unprecedented records such as setting the Autonomous Vehicle Land Speed World Record at 192.2mph, achieving the Fastest Overtake at 174 mph, and recording the Fastest Lap Speed at 180mph. To date, Over 7,000 miles of autonomous racing have been completed, pushing the envelope of what's possible in high-speed autonomy. What’s more, the IAC has set the industry standard for global showcases, as well as technological partnerships with industry leaders in keeping with our mission to push the boundaries of autonomous vehicle technology.

The IAC university teams, representing 18 universities from 6 countries, comprising of over 259 PhD students have broken ground in autonomous racing, setting new records and pushing the envelope of what's possible in high-speed autonomy. The collaborative efforts of these brilliant minds from across the globe exemplify the transformative potential of STEM education and research. We are immensely proud to showcase their contributions at SXSW 2024 and look forward to the continued impact of their work on the world.
