Sundance Day 6 with live online Awards Ceremony

 Sundance Film Festival Day 65fb48996-71ab-45b4-8da4-3ba7343a77ef.gif

Late last year, the Sundance community was deeply saddened by the passing of filmmaker Jamie Redford. At 4:00 p.m. MT, on the penultimate day of the 2021 Festival, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating his memory at the premiere of his film Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir. A look into the life and legacy of literary titan Amy Tan, author of best sellers like The Joy Luck Club, the documentary goes deep, moving through generations of Tan’s family and contextualizing the patience with which Tan broke through barriers and waited on the other side, welcoming the world to join her.

And at 6:00 p.m. MT, tune in for one of the most anticipated events of the Fest. You’re invited to take a front-row seat at our annual Awards Night Ceremony, no ticket or pass required (but you will have to sign in). Join us to see which projects were selected for top honors by our jury members—and by you, our adventurous audiences. Did we mention that actor and comedian Patton Oswalt is emceeing the evening? And that we’ll have some very special presenters on hand? You’re not going to want to miss this one.

Plan Your Day

When it’s this good, there’s always time for one more episode. Provocative episodic content is showcased in this year’s Indie Series Program, presented by DoorDash. From Seeds of Deceit, a Dutch docuseries tracking infamous fertility doctor Jan Karbaat, to Would You Rather, a captivating French series capturing the complexities of adolescence, there’s more content to love at this year’s Festival. Already have a pass of any kind? You’re in. If not, Explorer Passes are just $25, and they’re still on sale.

Yesterday was dedicated to the next generation of independent storytellers. So it was only fitting that the day’s second screenings included a solid lineup of debut features—among them, Carey Williams’s R#J, Lyle Mitchell Corbine Jr.’s Wild Indian, and Amalia Ulman’s El Planeta. Monday also saw the debut of Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah. Here’s a look back at everything you might have missed.
