Stuttgart Festival Of Animated Film

The 27th Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (05.-10.05.2020)

Once a year, around April and May Stuttgart becomes the centre of international animation films. Since 1982, the Festival of Animated Film invites directors, production companies, distributors and international sales companies to present their animated films.

The International Animation Film Festival Stuttgart (ITFS) is one of the world's largest and most important festivals for animated film. The whole spectrum of current animation filmmaking with interfaces to visual effects, architecture, art, design, games and music are presented at the festival.

Set amidst the unique scenery of the Stuttgart city centre, the Open-Air Cinema creates a very special Festival atmosphere. On a large LED wall, screenings of animated shorts and popular box-office hits start at noon and so make the ITFS a Festival for the whole family. Up to 100,000 visitors come to Stuttgart to see around 1,000 films at the Open-Air and Innenstadtkinos Stuttgart cinemas.

The International Competition the Festival’s centrepiece, featuring animated shorts of high artistic quality produced in the previous year. An international jury composed of outstanding personalities of the animation scene awards prizes up to 90.000 Euro. Among them the Grand Prix, the Lotte Reiniger Award for Animated Film and German Voice Actor Award a prize for the best German-language voice artist in a feature-length animated film. In recent years, winners of this award have been well-known speakers such as Otto Waalkes, Axel Prahl and Alexandra Maria Lara.

The GameZone invites visitors to play, presenting innovative, high-quality computer games and interactive projects at the intersection of games and animation.

ITFS 2011: CALL FOR ENTRIES ANIMATED COM AWARD

Closing date for submissions: February 15, 2011

Dear filmmakers, producers and distributors,
Dear friends of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film!

The Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film has been awarding prizes for
animated spots, TV trailers and music videos in the "Under Commission"
competition since 2007. After assessing their past experience, the
organisers have decided to further develop the competition.
The
competition now focuses more closely on the requirements of professional
participants from advertising agencies, producers and clients. It is
more strongly oriented towards advertising and for the first time will
be complemented by the field of technology.
The competition’s
development should follow the example of the Festival’s Animation
Production Day (APD), which since 2006 has become one of the most
successful events for the animation industry.

The name of this newly planned competition is ANIMATED COM AWARD.
"COM" refers to both the words Commercial and Communication. The
ANIMATED COM AWARD is open to entries from the field of applied
animation.

Prizes will be awarded for the best advertising,
spatial communication and technology. The introduction of an entry fee
provides for an exclusive character, thus creating a competition
tailored to the requirements of professional and innovative agencies and
productions.
You'll find the entry forms and the festival regulations on our homepage.

Closing date for submissions is February 15, 2011.

For submission-related questions, please contact:

The ANIMATED COM AWARD will continue to be held in co-operation with the ADC Germany and ADC Europe.

Award ceremony ANIMATED COM AWARD

In 2010 the
award ceremony for the Under Commission competition was held at
Stuttgart’s Museum of Arts, located at the Schlossplatz. Following
extremely positive feedback from participants, the award ceremony will
again be held at this exclusive location in the form of an attractive award ceremony gala on the evening of Saturday, May 07, 2011.
As befitting the occasion, we place great importance on the industry’s
customary networking and so not only the nominated competition films and
the award-winning filmmakers will play an important role, but also
discussion amongst the event’s prominent guests. "Harmonix 'The Beatles:
Rock Band' Intro Cinematic" made by the well-known production company
Passion Pictures (with advertising clients such as Sony and Audi) was
the award-winning spot at the award ceremony in 2010.
Furthermore,
one of the makers of the Simpsons, David Silverman, presented his Coca
Cola spot "Hard Times - Coca-Cola Commercial", which was shown at the
American Super Bowl and is the most expensive and most widely acclaimed
spot worldwide. In addition to live music and the presentation of the
team responsible for the animated film "Sandman – Adventure in the Land
of Dreams" which premiered the same day, Rauschenberger catering and
Meckatzer, a private brewery made a considerable contribution to the
evening’s success.
