IFFI 52, 03: Call for entries in the special Goan section

IFFI 52, 03: Call for entries in the special Goan section

The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), which co-organises IFFI Goa, has announced a special Goan section Konkani/Marathi feature and non-feature films, for the 52nd International Film Festival of India(IFFI), Goa which is scheduled to be held in Panaji-Goa from 20th to 28th November 2021. The aim of the Special Goan Première and Non-Première Sections Konkani/Marathi Feature and Non-Feature Films for the 52nd IFFI is to select films of cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence, in a Special Goan Section, for the promotion of film art through the non-profit screening of these films.

Konkani and Marathi are the two major local languages spoken in Goa. Konkani is also widely spoken in Mangalore, though the dialect differs, while Marathi is the state language of Goa’s bordering state of Maharashtra. Last date for submission is 15th November 2021, by 5:00 pm, at The Entertainment Society of Goa’s office, in Panaji, the capital of the state of Goa.

ESG has, however, specified that the Special Goan Section shall be conducted only if their office receives more than four entries for the same. Goa produces very few films per year, but some of them have won coveted awards.
