MARATHI BLOCKBUSTER SAIRAT TO BE REMADE IN FIVE INDIAN LANGUAGES

Sairat, Nagraj Manjule's blockbuster Marathi language feature film will be remade in five Indian languages. This must be a record. At least, this film reviewer and filmfest attendee is not aware of any remakes in multiple languages. But then, I haven't consulted Prof.Google.

Rockline Venkatesh will remake Sairat in four South Indian languages: Tamil, Telugu,  Malayalam and Kannada while White Hall and  Zee Studios ( which is also moving into overseas distribution) will remake Sairat into Punjabi. Zee hopes to produce a Hindi reboot as well. The Kannada adaptation is already underway while the Punjabi remake, to be helmed by Pankaj Batra, wil kick off in December.
