ada - ambitious, but falls woefully short

A R Rahman composed the music for ADA, an ambitious film featuring Ayaan Ahmad,
Nauheed Cyrusi, Ayesha Jhulka,Rahul Roy,Saurabh Dubey  and Milind Gunaji
Written and directed by Tanvir Ahmad, Ada is the story of Ayaan, a mixed up young man who becomes a contract killer in keeping with the  ethos of his dead poet father Anil Anand (Roy) even as he embarks on a spiritual journey at the behest of his mother Amina (Jhulka) He finds love for a while (Cyrusi) but fate, sorry, make that choice, (his ) has other plans...

A great music score, a distinctly  European cinematic 'feel' ( Ahmad confesses to being inspired by European Masters) are the plus points. On the negative side, poor dialogue & muddled thinking. ( To quote Roy's character in the film," if Valmiki ( a dacoit) could become a writer, a poet can take up the gun')

If Ahmad wants to start a new genre in Bollywood, he'll have to do better than this.
