Not since Michael Schumacher started getting a run for his money from Sebastian Vettel has Forumla One racing had a more interesting development: Leonardo DiCaprio and the electric future of the sport. Okay, so what does this mean? As of September 2014, DiCaprio and his newly minted Venturi Automobiles posse, will drop the flag on a joint-venture geared to bring forth "the world's first fully electric race series." That's 10 cities, qualifying around 225km/h, and rubber-soled shoes most likely.
“The future of our planet depends on our ability to embrace fuel-efficient, clean-energy vehicles,” DiCaprio said. “Venturi Grand Prix has shown tremendous foresight in their decision to create an environmentally friendly racing team, and I am happy to be a part of this effort.”
Yes, but how will the new Formula E series do on the Salt Flats? Electric land speed records, ps, for one of their built monsters at 495k or 307 mph. (That'll throw your head back. Wonder if there was any pedal left?) See www.leonardodicaprio.com or www.venturicars.com and www.fiaformulae.com.
