Stephen King’s powers of pen twist Julianne Moore in LISEY’S STORY

by Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent

How many times during the Pandemic have you heard ‘looks like we’re living in a Stephen King novel?’ Even if you haven’t heard it, LISEY’S STORY a series starring Julianna Moore and Clive Owen, is about to make you think it. From Apple TV+ on June 4, King’s psychological mind-messer is so apropos of now, you’d think the Fright Knight had cooked this one up on order from the CDC. (Actually this is from King’s 2006 novel, now being simultaneously re-released.) Because aren’t we all kind of wondering if this is Reality or some Unreality blip in human history?

Lisey Landon (Julianne Moore) has a similar feeling when, having lived through the death of her writer-husband Scott Landon (Clive Owen) two years before, she is beset by an unease of paranormal proportions. Or is it just Lisye's imagination - or Scott's imagination that pulls her toward his dark side… or not his dark side, but maybe the one inside all of us when the mask of normalcy is ripped off?

Stephen King’s novel of the same name reissues a new edition on June 1st, as mentioned, followed by LISEY’S STORY from the bitten forbidden fruit logo streamer on June 4th.

Either way, repurposed tome or not, this stellar cast includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, no stranger to horror herself, and the always great Joan Allen. Plus Lawless’s Dane DeHaan, Sung Kang, and Ron Cephas Jones who knows how to stir the pot. The worlds-collide themer is directed by Chilean film legend Pablo Larrain. (Larrain also directs Kristen Stewart in the hotly anticipated Princess Diana movie coming soon.)

Directors used to be afraid of mishandling Stephen King’s beloved fan material, but in the case of LISEY’S STORY, the cast itself and director assure in advance that this is an adaptation to remember. King is also an Executive Producer here with J.J. Abrams and more.

Wait for it… June 4th

Apple TV+ Official says…

Based on the novel by Stephen King, this terrifying thriller follows widow Lisey Landon (Julianne Moore) as a series of disturbing events revives memories of her marriage to author Scott Landon (Clive Owen) and the darkness that plagued him.
