Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes services and offers

Plus Camerimage

The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography PLUS CAMERIMAGE is the greatest and most recognized festival dedicated to the art of cinematography and its creators - cinematographers. PLUS CAMERIMAGE contributes to the growth of cinematographers' prestige. The unconventional format of the Festival, which awards films according to their visual, aesthetic and technical values, has turned out to be an alternative for traditional film festivals. As all our guests emphasize - PLUS CAMERIMAGE is unique. The Festival proves to be a great forum not only for presentation but also for further development of international moviemaking. PLUS CAMERIMAGE helps young filmmakers and integrates the community of those already recognized, allowing them to explore new artistic areas.

The Plus Camerimage Film Festival is proud to announce the 2010 Plus Camerimage Cinematographer - Director Duo Award will be awarded to cinematographer Matthew Libatique and director Darren Aronofsky.

Aronofsky's latest feature Black Swan,
which premiered at Venice Film Festival this year, marks the fourth
feature film on which the pair has collaborated. Past films include π, Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain. Black Swan
will open the Plus Camerimage Festival 2010, and both filmmakers are
scheduled to attend the screening and award ceremony. In addition, the
organizers of the Plus Camerimage Film Festival will also hold a special
retrospective review of their previous work together, and Libatique will also sit on the Jury for the Music Video Competition.

Libatique and Aronofsky's first feature collaboration π earned Aronofsky
the Director's Award at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival, as well as
three Independent Spirit award nominations, including a win for Best
Cinematography. In 2000 the pair worked together again on Requiem for a Dream.
The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and garnered five
Independent Spirit Award nominations, including a win for Best
Cinematography and nomination for Best Director. In addition, the film's
star Ellen Burstyn also received Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for her stunning performance.

Requiem for a Dream

Libatique has previously worked with feature film directors Joel Schumacher (Tigerland, Phone Booth), Spike Lee (Miracle At St. Anna, She Hate Me, Inside Man), Liev Schreiber (Everything Is Illuminated) and Olivier Dahan (My Own Love Song). Most recently he worked with Jon Favreau on Iron Man and Iron Man 2, and is currently shooting Favreau's latest film Cowboys And Aliens. In addition to his feature work, Libatique
is also known for his extraordinary work in the music video industry,
including videos for such artists as The Cure, Usher, Incubus, Tupac,
Moby, Snoop Dog, Jay-Z and Matchbox 20.

Aronofsky's last film The Wrestler
premiered at the Venice Film Festival where it won the esteemed Golden
Lion, making it only the third American film in history to win this
grand prize. The Wrestler won ‘Best Feature' at the Independent Spirit Awards and garnered Academy Award nominations for both Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei. Among his honors, the American Film Institute gave Aronofsky
the prestigious Franklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal and the Stockholm
Film Festival presented him with the Golden Horse Visionary Award.
