The only festival in the world where guests get to see films with inmates. It s in themiddle of the city, yet is called The Alcatraz of the North (300 inmates in high security, including some of the toughest criminals in Germany)

A truly rare and positive experience. 

Could not have imagined sharing drinks and canapes with prisoners, wardens and festival guests... Interesting to observe the way we look humans who are very different from us. (one way or another)

Oldenburg is the only festival in the world which annually screens part of its regular program is an actual prison environment. The concept behind this is not only to offer the inmates a unique cultural experience but also to offer the general public a glimpse into the daily routines of prison life while sharing the common language of film. The festivals aims to raise awarness of incarcerated individuals and build bridges between their world and the outside, as upon their release back into society we will all be neighbors.

The opening of the prison screenings opened today this friday at 2 am.
