FREE to Submit: truTV and NYTVF Seeking Comedic Formats and New Voices

truTV is partnering with the NYTVF to find the next generation of distinct comedic voices to create unscripted and scripted comedy-based formats. Through the truTV Comedy Breakout Initiative, an outstanding content creator will be chosen to develop a project in partnership with truTV.

Submission to the Comedy Breakout initiative is FREE for eligible creators, and all Finalists will be invited to attend the 2017 New York Television Festival as Official Artists.

For inspiration, check out existing truTV programming, including Impractical Jokers, Adam Ruins Everything, Billy on the Street, The Carbonaro Effect, Jon Glaser Loves Gear, Hack My Life, and Fameless, as well as the original scripted comedy Those Who Can't.

What do you need to submit?

Submission packets should include:

  1. Series Overview (up to four (4) pages)

  2. Creator C.V.

  3. Project Proof of Concept (ONE of the following): a produced comedy pilot and/or series (up to 20 minutes), a produced “in progress” work (e.g. sizzle, trailer, doc series footage, scene example, etc. minimum of four (4) minutes.), or a paper-developed format (up to eight (8) pages)

The submission platform will be open from January 25, 2017 at 12pm (noon) EST to February 17, 2017 at 12pm (noon) EST and it is FREE to submit.
