Eldon, an artist and activist, was a hero in the truest sense; a photojournalist whose passion was to shed light on stories that needed to be told. In 1993, 22-year-old Eldon was killed by an angry mob while covering the conflict in Somalia. Dan Eldon's mother, will present the award at the Screening and Award Ceremony, which takes place December 3rd at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. Kathy Eldon is a journalist, author and humanitarian who has channeled her grief and energy into the Creative Visions Foundation, which helps artists, writers and filmmakers use their artistic disciplines as vehicles of social change. The festival is part of The MY HERO Project, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that celebrates the best of humanity through its website (www.myhero.com).
