Movies that Matter Festival

Movies that Matter wants to open eyes by offering a stage for poignant fiction films and revealing documentairies that stir debate about human rights, sustainability and the fight against injustice.

Movies that Matter screens these films at schools, at the annual Movies that Matter Festival in The Hague and in the On Tour film theatres throughout The Netherlands. The organization also supports human rights film screenings in non-western countries.

The Movies that Matter Festival in The Hague is the international film and debate festival about peace and justice in the International City of Peace and Justice.

In Filmhuis Den Haag and Theater aan het Spui around 70 films will be screened, in combination with daily talk shows, music performances and expositions. Besides various theme-based & 'the best of' programmes, the festival presents three main programmes: (1) Amnesty International's Activist, a tribute to human rights advocates, (2) Camera Justitia - made possible by vfonds - features films dealing with law and justice and (3) Dutch Movies Matter, a programma that highlights human rights films made by Dutch filmmakers. The festival is a meeting place for the public and inspirational guests, including politicians, filmmakers and journalists.
