The last film in competition at the 33rd Venice International Film Critics' Week is the visceral and mysterious experimental horror M by Finnish artist Anna Eriksson, who in her career as a singer sold nearly half a million records. Her debut feature film - screening tomorrow, Thursday September 6 in Sala Perla at 2pm - explores the relationship between sexuality and death, which appear to be at opposite poles, but in fact, they merge in all of us, disguising the fear of death or the desire to die, the world of Eros. General Delegate Giona A. Nazzaro described M as “the most radical film of the entire selection. A sensorial vortex structured as an industrial symphony. Female iconography is destroyed and reimagined in the debut feature film by Anna Erikson. In pure L.A. gothic style, the film is a visionary and performative body-horror in the threshold between life and death, between Jean Rollin and David Cronenberg.” After the screening, the filmmaker, who also served as lead actress and curated herself the film down to the last detail, from directing to colour correction and all the different stages of sound mixing, will attend a Q&A with the audience and the press.

Malo Tempo by Tommaso Perfetti is the last short film in competition for the third edition of SIC@SIC (Short Italian Cinema @ Settimana Internazionale della Critica) and will screen before M. The director will be joined at the screening by leading actor Luciano La Montagna, who plays a man serving time under house arrest, between narrow walls where days feel always the same. Time goes by slowly, marked by actions repeated over and over again, singing melodramatic songs full of passion and getting ready to start over again.
