Marrakech International Film Festival

The Marrakesh International Film Festival was created in 2001 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The event is organised by the Marrakesh Film Festival Foundation under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid.

A key cinema event in Morocco and on the international stage, the Marrakesh Festival brings together important figures from the world of the arts, culture and media to the “Ochre City”. Through the years, the festival has attracted some of the most famous names in cinema from around the world. It has established its reputation and became an unmissable event on the cinema and media calendar.

The Marrakesh Festival sets itself apart through quality programming and a unique artistic and editorial positioning which fosters openness to all forms of cinema. It is also a hot spot for young local talent thanks to its Cinécoles competition which awards the best short films from Moroccan cinema students.

Today the Marrakesh Film Festival stands out as a leading artistic and cultural event unparalleled in the African continent and in the whole Arab world.
