RUPERT FRIEND SET TO STAR IN WILLIAM BRENT BELL’S "SEPARATION"

NEW YORK (October 23, 2018) – Rupert Friend will star in Separation, directed by William Brent Bell and written by Nick Amadeus and Joshua Braun.  The film is produced by Bell together with Yale Productions’ Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, Russ Posternak and Jesse Korman, and RainMaker’s Clay Pecorin and Russell Geyser.   Executive producers are Seth Posternak and Dennis Rice.  Yale Productions’ Jon Keeyes serves as a Co-Producer.

Equally inspired by iconic family drama Kramer vs Kramer and contemporary supernatural thrillers like The Sixth Sense and Mama, SEPARATION explores the horrifying consequences of divorce like no film before. Additional casting and story details will be announced at a later date.

“As soon as I read Nick and Josh’s script I knew I found my next project,” commented Bell.  “It blends emotional, relatable family drama with edge-of-your-seat scares and Rupert is the ideal actor to bring both aspects to life.”

Producer Jordan Yale Levine added, “Brent’s a visionary filmmaker and we’ve been eager to work together for years.  We could not be more excited to bring his vision to life on the big screen with Rupert leading the way.”

One of today’s most accomplished, in-demand genre filmmakers, William Brent Bell is most known for his smash hit horror films The Boy, which was released by STX and grossed $65M at the worldwide box office and The Devil Inside, released by Paramount with worldwide box office exceeding $100M.  Bell is repped by ICM Partners.

Emmy nominee Rupert Friend is best known for his portrayal of ‘Peter Quinn’ in Showtime’s acclaimed series HOMELAND. This year, Friend has co-starred in a trio of projects including Armando Ianucci’s DEATH OF STALIN for IFC Films, David Lowery’s series STRANGE ANGEL for CBS All Access, and in Paul Feig’s A SIMPLE FAVOR for Lionsgate. Next month, he stars opposite Willem Dafoe in AT ETERNITY’S GATE for director Julian Schnabel, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. Other notable credits include David MacKenzie’s STARRED UP which was nominated for eight British Independent Film Awards, including one for Best Supporting Actor for Friend; HITMAN: AGENT 47 as the title character for 20th Century Fox; THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS with Vera Farmiga and David Thewlis; Stephen Frears’ CHERI opposite Michelle Pfeiffer; Jean-Marc Vallee’s THE YOUNG VICTORIA opposite Emily Blunt; Joe Wright’s PRIDE & PREJUDICE,  and THE LIBERTINE opposite Johnny Depp and John Malkovich for which Friend was nominated by the British Independent Film Awards as "Best Newcomer" for his first professional role.  Friend is repped by CAA.

Production will commence in New York in November.
