TIFFCOM Open for Business in TokyoBy Liza Foreman TOKYO – Three markets have been rolled into one to create Japan’s biggest content confab, which opens here tomorrow. The newly expanded market arm of the Tokyo International Film Festival combines the 10th Tokyo International Music Market (TIMM); TIFFCOM2013, the marketplace for film and television content in Asia; and the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2013 Fall (TIAF). The markets will be held simultaneously from October 22 - 24 at the Hotel Grand Pacific Le Daiba. Exhibitors are presenting from 26 countries and regions, up from 25 last year, and 316 organizations are taking part, setting a new record. The largest number of exhibitors come from Korea this year and then Taiwan, followed by the U.K., Cambodia, and Malaysia. Cambodia is taking part for the first time. As of October 24, the number of pre-registered buyers stood at 1072, representing a 109% increase on last year. Alongside the business seminars, and industry showcases, the TIFFCOM Co-Pro Connection, a project market that promotes international co-productions, will take place during the market. An estimated 25,000 visitors are expected.
