Leeds International Film FestivalThe 31st Leeds International Film Festival will take place 2–16 November 2017. The Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) is the largest film festival in England outside London. Founded in 1987, it is held in November at various venues throughout Leeds, West Yorkshire. In 2016, the festival welcomed over 40,000 visitors and showed over 300 films from around the world, shorts and features, commercial and independent. LIFF is a qualifying film festival for the Oscars® and BAFTAs LIFF is a qualifying film festival for the Academy Awards and the winning films in Short Film City’s Louis Le Prince International Short Film Competition and World Animation Award may thus be eligible for the Academy’s Short Film Awards. LIFF is the largest film festival in England outside London. In 2015 the festival welcomed over 45,000 visitors and showed over 300 films from around the world. You can SUBMIT to the festival through Withoutabox or FilmFreeway LIFF is a qualifying film festival for the Oscars® and BAFTAs The winners of LIFF’s Louis le Prince International Short Film Competition and World Animation Competition may be submitted to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for consideration for nominations for the Live Action and Animated Short Film categories of the Oscars® respectively. Any British short film selected by LIFF may be submitted to the British Academy of Film & Television Arts for consideration for nominations for the British Short Film category of the BAFTAs. Short Film Awards · Louis Le Prince International Short Film Competition- £1,000 Prize · World Animation Award- £1,000 Prize · Best British Short- £1000 Prize · Yorkshire Short Film Competition- £500 Prize · Dance Short Film Competition- £500 Prize · Music Video Award In addition to the short films, feature-length fiction films and documentaries can also be submitted.
