Animaze le MIAFF announces the world premiere of the Motion Graphic Novel “The Land of the Magic Flute”

The Land of the Magic Flute“ is a captivating browser-experience produced by the Interactive Media Foundation in Berlin. A modern and bold rendition of a 200-year old classic: Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” re-imagined!
Mysterious and full of secrets, with wonderful, atmospheric drawings and animations, with seven complete arias and a music concept which plays with excerpts from Mozart's composition, the digital Motion Graphic Novel creates a fantastic visual- and hearing experience.
Best-selling author Chris Taminer (Tamino) finds himself stranded on a strange island after his car crashes into a lake. It is “The Land of the Magic Flute” – where magical principles predominate and a battle between the Queen of the Night and Sarastro, ruler of the sun, threatens to destroy the

Le Miaff§ will offer a unique experience and bring to the audience of the festival opening the rich and atmospheric world of the Motion Graphic Novel The Land of the Magic Flute in an immersive live performance on the 16th of April!

Surrounded by vast landscapes of scorched earth and eerily lit forest which are inhabited by  strange and mythical creatures, sound-artist Philippe Lambert will be performing an intuitive and impressionistic rendition of his soundtrack composition. Playing with elements of Mozarts original composition recorded  by the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, Lambert creates a soundscape that takes the Opera into new spheres.

“Working on The Land of the Magic Flute was exciting because a Motion Graphic Novel is a fairly new medium. As an artist it allowed for experimentation and for combining various techniques and languages from different media to create an experience that captivates the audience. ” Fons Schiedon, director

Festival Director Laurie Gordon stated “We are very happy and proud to announce  Mozart's Magic Flute produced by German based Interactive Media Foundation as part of our opening night program at the Montreal International Animation Film Festival. This special evening is a symbol of what Animaze aims to achieve bridging all niches of animation under one roof for four consecutive days in the animation capital of the world Montreal Canada. We are very excited to present such an innovative interpretation of The Magic Flute one of the most cherished works of music ever created.  We are honoured and excited  to have  director Fons Schiedon from The Netherlands present his work and a live concert with the composer Montreal’s own Philippe Lambert. Three screens, three projections and the sound performed live in an entirely revamped state of the art Concordia Hall Cinema main theatre is a perfect match and homage to one of the greatest operas of all time The Magic Flute.
