This year, the event synergizes global participation, high profile glamour and top notch entertainment with world renowned national and international celebrities walking the red carpet. IFFI 2006 showcases a repertoire of critically acclaimed international films, world premieres, film bazaars, children workshops, street animation, music concerts and open-air beach screenings to delegates and the public in a perfect packaging of glamour, excitement and celebrity participation, with nearly 200 international and Indian films screened during the 11-day period.
Same thing is happening at Kolkata. Kolkata film festival has more number of films this year than past.

Bollywood film `Corporate' by Madhur Bhandarkar, Kannada film maker Girish Kasaravalli's `Nayi Neralu' and Rituparno Ghosh's Bengali film `Dosar' are among 20 feature films in the Indian Panorama at the film festival.
To facilitate the smooth registration processes for the forthcoming 37th International Film Festival of India, a Delegate Registration Desks has been set up at the Aparant Handicrafts Emporium of GHRSSIDC.
The festival will open with Spanish film “Volver” Directed by Pedro Almodovar (Spain) and Starring Penelope Cruz, Carmen Maura.
The film is about three generations of women survive the east wind, fire, insanity, superstition and even death by means of goodness, lies and boundless vitality. They are Raimunda, who is married to an unemployed laborer and has a teenage daughter; Sole, her sister, who makes a living as a hairdresser; and the mother of both, who died in a fire along with her husband. This character appears first to her sister and then to Sole, although the people with whom she has some unresolved matters are Raimunda and her neighbor in the village.
