Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Gary Lucas & Gods and Monsters at The Bellhouse Brooklyn Fri. May 18th w/ Beatrice Demi-Mondaine & Institutional Prostitution

I am very excited as my longtime band Gods and Monsters are due to play at The Bellhouse in Brooklyn Friday May 18th!!  Here's some more info on the show:

http://tktwb.tw/HxGikq

Gods and Monsters, my psychedelic supergroup 23 years young this July, includes Ernie Brooks (Modern Lovers) on bass, Billy Ficca (Television) on drums,
Jason Candler (Hungry March Band) on alto sax, and Joe Hendel (Faddy Acids) on trombone and keyboards--our stable lineup since 2004.

We will be featuring songs spanning the band's career and focusing on our latest album "The Ordeal of Civiity",  produced by Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads).

The album made several Best of the Year lists, including Rock's Backpages--and was recently released in the UK,  where it's being played on the BBC and M6 channels, with Europe next on the horizon.

Two new clips from the album:

"Lady of Shalott": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0P8nCmSllM

Flying in from Paris to sit in specially for this show is French underground chanteuse Beatrice Demi-Mondaine, who will sing some of the songs I co-wrote and performed with Jeff Buckley:

Opening from Montreal is avant-femme art-noise duo Institutional Prostitution--

Sadaf Ha and Melissa Gagne.
IP was without a doubt the best group I saw at SXSW this year. This will be their first ever performance in NYC, and I will be sitting in with them.

I'm very excited about this show--it promises to be quite a night of music, and I do hope anyone in the NYC vicinity will make this stellar event!

And after that comes GARY LUCAS PLAYS "THE GOLEM" at the 6th Street Synagogue  here in NYC Thursday June 6th!! http://garylucas.com/www/golem More details soon

Meanwhile I have been having fun in NYC, I recently was at the French Institute Alliance Francaise to see the lovely actress Irene Jacob and her brother perform songs they had written with a small jazz group.

And last week I had a spectacular solo show at JOE'S PUB here which drew the likes of Time Warner CEO JEFF BEWKES and Met Opera maven FRED ISEMAN

there is plenty more good stuff coming so stay tuned!

xxGary

PS JUST IN--an interview in the new issue of MOJO about my forthcoming album CINEFANTASTIQUE!
