Preview Screening of New Bollywood Romantic Comedy

Tuesday, February 20-----The South Asian International Film Festival and SANA (a professional organization of South Asian media professionals) is presenting a special avant-premiere of a new Bollywood romantic comedy INDIAN COWBOY at a special screening on Thursday, February 22, 8:00pm at the AMC Loews 19th Street Theater in Manhattan. The screening series is one of the many year-round events being sponsored by the Festival and SANA to up the profile of South Asian films and filmmakers in the United States.

INDIAN COWBOY, written and directed by Nikhil Kamkolkar, and starring Sheethal Sheth, Deep Katdare, Sundra Oakley and Jonathan Sale, is a contemporary romantic comedy about a South Asian writer, Nick, who wants to experience love at its most glorious and with the obligatory happy ending. Sapna, a visitor from India whose beauty is matched only by her sarcastic wit, insists that all true love ends in tragedy, pointing to such classic stories as Romeo and Juliet, as proof. Nick and Sapna meet and fall in love.

The film, which will be released to theaters later this month, is a funny, sexy, stylish, and irreverant romp that mixes the cnventions of Hollywood classic boy-meets-girl  with Bollywood over-the-top romantic comedy, and turning both genres on their heads. INDIAN COWBOY is the directorial debut of writer/director Nikhil Kamkolkart, and features exciting new music by South Asian artists including Karsh Kale, Alms for Shanti, Karyshma and Kam Dhillon.

For information on how to attend this screening and other upcoming events, visit the websites of the South Asian Internatonal Film Festival: www.saiff.org and SANA: www.sanaonline.com
