To make the most of filmfestivals.com, the leading Pro Film Festivals community linking 6.500 festivals to the filmmakers worldwide, follow the three easy steps described below to:
- complete your profile,
- add content
- promote your videoblog.

Please note that you need to publish one post for your account to be visible to others.

Step 1: Complete your profile - be sure to ADD YOUR FILM OR YOUR FESTIVAL in the directory, see below how to...
It is very important to complete your profile, so other professionals will find you, know who you are, what you do...

Once loggued in, on the left column, click on Profile Update, and fill the fields under both tabs: Account Settings and User Info and use the button Submit at the bottom of each page to save your changes.

Account Settings:
In account settings, please enter your location, choose your domain name (similar to your screen name, without ".com"...,

Pictures and presentation text make your videoblog more attractive. By example take a look at the editor's videoblog.

User Info:

Step 2: Add Content ADD YOUR FILM OR YOUR FESTIVAL
Click on the Create Content link top left.
You can add different type of content on your videoblog: Text, Video, Pictures, Audio and links to your other sites.
If you are looking for visibility you must also register your festival or your film in the database, which will be automatically listed to our Festival Directory or to our Film Library.
Your registration is linked to your blog, both can be accessible and edited with your login details.

All options to add content are also on the left column and you can consult the help pages if you have problems adding your content.

For a festival blog for instance, add:

- Your Mission Statement
- Past award winners
- Some pictures with ambiance, the festival poster,
- The Festival trailer, a few videos...
- The call for entry (select the call for entry channel when publishing) You can also add the submission form as a separate file to your festival registration.

For a film blog for instance, add:

Text blogs: synopsis, directors, bio, productions, notes, festival circuit
Video video trailer, excerpts
Images: the poster, (select film poster channel)

Recent  and prolific and interesting contributors are promoted on the home page, and may be republished on filmfestivals.com.

Steps 3: Promote your Videoblog
A few tips to improve your visibility on Fest21 and Google:

- Publish original content. Add regularly new content; for example, update your blog once a week

- Use title that describes your content well, choose category for your content and add tags (ie words describing the content).

- For Video, Pictures and Audio files that you upload, it's better to name them video_cannes_festival than video090998980 for example. It also helps search engines.

- Use our special promotion offers and make sure to promote your Festival (Bulletin Board), your Film(Showcase) , your Online Platform (Exposure) and more.

- Share your content on Digg, Delicious, or other social network like Facebook, Netvibes, Myspace, Twitter... Use your RSS to republish automatically in your other blogs.

- Create your own widget to promote your content or general festival content on various websites...

- Add a link to your blog on your other websites, on cinema or blog's directories, on the websites of your partners...

- Add your Videoblog on your press releases

If you have questions, consult the help pages, contact us or contact the editor at editor at filmfestivals.com.

Film Production Directory Namibia 2011

Good day

I am the new Project Coordinator for the RBJ Trust, a publishing company based in Swakopmund. We recently published the first ever Production Directory Namibia 2010, which is a directory focused solely on the flourishing film industry in Namibia. Having returned from Santa Monica Location Trade Fair we have only received positive feedback on the Production Directory Namibia 2010 and we hope to make the next Production Directory even better!

The Production Directory Namibia contains information & guidelines of filming in Namibia, information about Namibia and detailed contact listings of general and production services providers, as well as listings of all experienced crew in Namibia. Each directory is aimed at the film industry and will be distributed at various international film shows and production festivals. This directory is one of a kind in Namibia!

This directory’s purpose is to showcase Namibia’s well established film industry and to market Namibia as a filming destination at an International level. This directory was presented at the Berlinale in Berlin in February and again in the Location Fair in Santa Monica - Los Angeles in April and will be presented again in Mumbai in October, to mention just a few locations.

The directory has 4 different options, a full page advertisement (N$7500.00) per year, a half page advertisement (N$5000.00) per year and a quarter page advertisement (N$3360.00) per year to everyone who wishes to be in the directory. This year we are also offering the chance to list your company under our Production Services as either a bold listing (N$2200) or a normal listing (N$1500). However, should you already have bought an advertisement; your company is automatically added to the Production Services list. We are also offering a further 8% discount on any two advertisements ordered and a 10% discount on three or more advertisements ordered.

If you are a crew member, or know of someone who is a crew member, they are listed for free in the directory. Please send through a CV as well as three contactable references.

I am also in the process of putting together a few fun-filled pages of services and activities located in and around Namibia so if you would like to be part of a collage on a page at only N$800, please let me know.

I would like to advise you to see this as an opportunity for you to introduce yourself to international film producers and directors that look at Namibia as a filming location. We are targeting all categories in Namibia from accommodation to transport hire, from restaurants to animal wranglers, from banks to beverage suppliers so as to create an easy to read, complete guide to filming in Namibia. We would like to ensure that any international producers and directors use only Namibian companies and services which will help boost our Namibian film industry.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to your response.

Kindest regards,
Andrea Leech

Made in the Shade

On May 21, at Manhattan's Pierre Hotel, Oscar de La Renta presented his fall ready-to-wear collection with Bergdorf Goodman during the 2003 Continuum Breast Service benefit luncheon. The models wore jewelry by Palm Beach-based designer Laura Munder. Many of Munder's recent designs, incorporating rare mint-colored tourmalines, padparasha sapphires and diamonds and gemstones in pink and orange, were featured.
"I was pleased and flattered to participate in a luncheon designed to benefit an important and worthy cause," said Munder. "Oscar is a fashion icon, and together our designs presented a bold, sophisticated style for fashion conscious women."

African Filmweek in Sao Paulo - Brazil

From 9th - 15th November public will have access for the first time in São Paulo Espelho Atlântico - Film Week from Africa and the Diaspora, held
annually since 2008 at Caixa Cultural - Rio de Janeiro. Its
programming highlights the contemporary look to the African situation
and their descendants scattered around the world.

Among others, we
have the premiere of short film Black Berlin and the selection of some of the
best films showcased at the show in the last two years.

Black Berlin by Sabrina Fidalgo, shows in a fun way a young
Brazilian in the German capital, divided between the spoils of the first
world and the past memories in their own country. The selection of
Brazilian films also have "Maria Sem Graça" by Leandro Godinho, which
brings in the main cast samba paulista Fabiana Cozza playing an aunt
who tries to dissuade her niece's black obsession to become a Xuxa ( a very popular Brazilian TVshow with German ancient),
and O som e o resto, by André Lavaquial, the only Brazilian film which participated in the session Cinéfondation, in Cannes Film Festival
2008.

The outside view on the african-Brazilian culture is well
represented by the film Os Cariocas by Ariel's Bigault, originally made
for French TV. Portugal
shows a sensitive short animation Ossudo by Julio Alves, based on the
short story Ossos by Mia Couto, who speaks of love in extreme poverty
and helplessness.

Of the films made in Africa, highlight Kuxa Kanema is a powerful
portrait of the socialist experience in Mozambique, with unpublished
images of Samora Machel and other relics of the Newsreel maintained by
the government during that period. In Angola, we'll show The Hero, a
fiction film that depicts the intricacies of rebuilding a country after
decades of civil war, and that counts in the main cast with
Brazilian actresses Neusa Borges, Maria Ceiça.

The woman question comes mainly through the eyes of two
contemporary African filmmakers, who bring different perspectives on
the issue of gender in that continent. From Cape Verde, we display the
misadventures of a group of women in the first film in that country by
national team totally - Cape Verde My Love by Ana Ramos Lisboa.
From Mauritania there is the beautiful Waiting for the Men a documentary by Katy
Lena Ndiaye about f women
living under the strict Muslim tradition in a society dominated by men.

Curated by filmmaker Lilian Solá Santiago, she also displays two
films short ; Ballet Foot in the Ground (in
partnership with Marianna Miller, winner of the Best Documentary at the
Hollywood Film Festival I, 2009), which shows the trajectory of
Mercedes Baptista, the precursor of african-Brazilian dance, and the
doc-fiction Graffiti which raises the question of the
criminalization of black youth in Sao Paulo, through the agency of the
police in revenge for attacks by the PCC in 2006.

Fun with reflection!

A NEW KIND OF FILM FESTIVAL.

The You Are Here Film Festival is a web-based film festival dedicated to films that tackle the themes of place and locale.  Local subject matters, local people, local culture -- anything goes, so long as it captures the spirit of a specific place.  There are no restrictions on the length of the films, format, what have you.  Your film can be documentary, fiction, a feature or very short, narrative or experimental.  What matters most is the filmmaker’s skill and ability to capture the sense of a place that is unique to all other places in the world.

A ROLLING FESTIVAL.

Submissions are rolling.  So submit any time.  Winners receive $100 prize -- and are chosen periodically when it feels like we’ve found a the right film.  Winning films will be played on the festival site -- and we’ll also upload the winning films onto other sites.  Laurels, email blasts, tweets, and a press release accompany the winning films.

THINK SMALL.

Your film can be about a county, a town, a city street, a rural field, a single address.  This is a festival that seeks to express what it means to be from somewhere specific.

WHY LOCAL?

Local is good.  This is true for food, for friends, and for film.  There are a lot of great festivals out there celebrating different kinds of films for everybody.  But there is yet to be a festival that celebrates the notion of place.
