Exodus to Shanghai

Exodus to Shanghai a film by Anthony Hickox, writtend and produced by Michel Adam tells a story of two brave lovers, Fannia and Bruce, who stand up to the Nazis and fight against their evil. With the help of music, martial arts and wisdom, they make their escape to Shanghai on the Orient Express, saving many Jews along the journey.

Together with Dr. Ho, the Chinese Consul in Vienna in 1938, who helped thousands of Jews to flee Vienna and escape to Shanghai with free Exit Visas, they make their Exodus to Shanghai.

Exodus to Shanghai: This film flies but is also true UFO

When I was about to watch that movie, I was like « another movie about the WW2, well I hope I won’t fall asleep until the end… ». Actually I was wrong; I was awake during all the hour and I had quite a good time. Exodus to Shanghai is actually the type of movie that catches your attention in the beginning (just because you want to see how it’ll succeed the challenge). I think if Tarantino was obligated to realize a remake of Inglorious Bastard with Ryan Murphy: the result wouldn’t have been far from this movie.

The plot is based on a real events which very few know.  However the tone is more relaxed than most mainstream movie about WW2. And the result is quite enjoyable: you’ll laugh when you need to, and you won’t cry because it’s not the aim of this movie to make you cry.

We may sometimes find some of the actors over-acting: but in the end, it contributes to giving the movie that humoristic touch. This work flies but is also true UFO. In fact, it’s the first time that I see WW2 with a Kung-Fu practicing character. Is it an intoxicating mix? Not at all, I think this movie will find its own public. If you’re the type of person who enjoys the little funny thing in life and having a good laugh sometimes, you’ll fit to the universe of Exodus to Shanghai. If instead, you’re the type of person who is always looking for the best “masterpiece” (and don’t try to trick us, we all know that for you the definition of masterpiece is linked to the name of the artist behind), I think you should watch that movie either… It contains some good catchwords.

Personally I think this movie is the cherry on the cake for a good night with friends, beer and pizzas.
