LEGOLAND: Summer of movies...

LEGOLAND – SUMMER 2022

BUILD YOUR SUMMER HAPPINESS…ONE BRICK AT A TIME

By Emmanuel Itier and Roxanna Bina

If there is one necessary stop for the summer in order to build yourself a little more happiness, it is the land of the bricks as known as Legoland California . Make sure you block one, or ideally two days, with a complete park hopping ticket in order to partake the many rides and activities at the theme park, the water park and the not so well know aquarium. To make it even more splendid, indulge yourself with a night or two at one of the two majestic hotels: the Legoland hotel and the Legoland Castle hotel.

This has been a tradition for us, with three boys (Felix ,17 who literally grew up at Legoland – Max, 10 and Rex, 8), to come to this “awesome” park for the last 15 years, twice a year, for a summer escapade and a Christmas brick celebration. I don’t think we missed any one of the launches of the new attractions, such as the Ninjago theme area or the Lego movie land, which has opened for almost a year now.

What is fantastic is the lines are not out of control. At most, it will take you an hour max to get to the rocking “Emmet’s flying adventure ride” in the Lego movie world, on your left when you enter the park and after passing through the adventure land where I suggest you take a “Coastersaurus” roller coaster ride to put you in the mood and open wide all your senses. The Lego movie world is full of surprises. Not only you will want to do, over and over, “Emmet’s ride” to better catch all of the master builders in this high tech transport: a triple decker flying couch. But you will delight into a smoother experience with “Queen Watevra’s carousel” gracing of your presence one of the 60 multi color horses. Make sure to have a full bowl of delicious ramen at the “Everything is Ramen” restaurant, make sure to buckle up and dare the ultimate sensation at the “Unikitty’s disco drop”!

Not too far from the Lego movie world and to chill out with the high afternoon sun, I recommend a deep-sea adventure with the recently launched: “Lego city: Deep-sea adventure”. You will board with your whole family into a “real” submarine and submerge underwater, ready for some treasure hunt. Not only will you cross path with a dozen of rare fishes, sting rays and sharks, but you will be able to play with your family with this fun scavenger hunt.

Now that you got a taste for “water”, why not take a full immersion in the water park, adjacent to the Legoland park. This summer it is your ultimate afternoon escapade until sunset. The kids will have so much fun interacting with the water slides of “Cragger’s swamp” from the Chima world or take a deep dive with the the “pirate reef” attraction. Finally, a major success with all ages is the “Lion temple water pool” with, also a Chima theme. Go and jump in the rolling waves, endlessly and until the waterpark closes around 6pm.
As a closing experience for a full day of pure fun and adventures, let me suggest a stroll by the “Lost Kingdom adventure” ride where the whole family would be able to compete at who is a better shooter of mummies, snakes and skeletons while on board of a range-rover like automobile. Finally end the day with a kung fu kick in the land of Ninjago and show off your moves with fireballs, lightning, shockwaves and ice kick while experiencing the “Lego Ninjago: the ride”. This is your ultimate family challenge. And before saying “see you next time, Legoland” why don’t you take a walk through the “Sea Life aquarium” and encounter some majestic sea creature such as sharks, octopi and rays!

Feel how complete and awesome you are! You have experienced what the Lego company has to offer best with their toys (which you should by at the Big Lego store on the way out of the park) and their many movies and series franchises! And more important: see the gigantic smiles gracing the faces of your children, now ready for bed at the Legoland hotel or on the long ride home. They say you can’t buy happiness, but you can certainly build it, one brick at a time, one visit at a time to Legoland California. Keep on being happy and have a splendid summer!
