TromaDance Presents: THE 1st TROMANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL

Saturday, April 30th 2016 at Lucky 13 Saloon in Brooklyn

TromaDance Film Festival, which is in its 17th year, will give birth to an additional free independent film festival. The first ever TROMAnimation Film Festival, organized by Gary Trimarchi, animation consultant and animation curator of the exhibition, set to take place at the NYC landmark Lucky 13 Saloon in Brooklyn, NY on April 30, 2016, it was announced today by Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and creator of "The Toxic Avenger."

TROMAnimation, like TromaDance, does not require a fee to submit and the event will be admission free for attendees. Selections will be made based on open-genre submissions and promises to feature over five hours of animations from 6 PM-11 PM on Saturday, April 30th. Important to note is that any animation that has been or will be submitted to the TromaDance film festival will also be considered in selections for the TROMAnimation Film Festival. The contact to submit to TROMAnimation is cartoon@troma.com. The form for submission to the TromaDance festival is available at http://tromadance.com/submit.php.

It comes as no surprise that Troma Entertainment, historically an advocate of independent artists and filmmakers of all genres , would expand their support to include animators and cartoonists all over the world.

All entries and inquiries to TROMAnimation  can be sent to cartoon@troma.com. The deadline to submit is April 15th, 2016 and all genres of animation are welcome, including hand-drawn, 2-D, 3-D, digital and experinmental.

*************

Established in 1974 by Yale friends Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, Troma Entertainment is arguably the longest-running independent movie studio in North America, and it's one of the very few genuine brand names in the industry. World famous for movie classics like Kaufman's "The Toxic Avenger", Trey Parker's "Cannibal, the Musical", "Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead", "Class of Nuke 'em High", Charles Kaufman's "Mother's Day" and "Tromeo & Juliet", Troma's seminal films are now being remade as big-budget mainstream productions by the likes of Brett Ratner, Richard Saperstein, Akiva Goldsman and Steven Pink. Early work of many of today's luminaries  can be found in Troma's library of 1000 films, cartoons, TV shows and shorts. Jenna Fischer, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Costner, Fergie, Vincent D'Onofrio, Samuel L. Jackson, James Gunn and Eli Roth are just a few. Troma's latest in house productions are "Return to Nuke 'Em High: Volumes 1 & 2". Troma's Blu-rays, DVDs, books, t-shirts and movie merchandise can be purchased at Tromashop.
