“Films Division” is the visual encyclopedia of India. Films Division is a media unit, functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India, since 1948. It has contributed immensely for the promotion of documentaries, short and animation films. Films Division is entering its 60th Glorious year. In these six decades, Films Division has captured on celluloid nearly 8000 films. It screens these films in theatres as well as by organizing film festivals in every state capital. Thus, the motto of Films Division, i.e. educating and enlightening the masses of India, in the remotest corner of the world, is being achieved.
One such endeavor was screening of Three documentaries on three great personalities of India Viz. Shri R. K. Narayanan, Sri. Sri. Ravi Shankar and Golden voice of yester years Mubark Begum,. for the Press.
These films will be entering in various festivals worldwide.
1. Art Of Living
Art Of Living, founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, began as an educational institution in 1982 has come a very long way. In a quarter century, it has touched the lives of more than 20 million people and grown to become the largest NGO in the world having spread to 150 countries. It is recognized all over the world over by governments and world bodies. It works with United Nations, participating in a variety of committees. Its activities cover the areas of conflict resolution, trauma relief, disaster management, education and revival of ancient wisdom.
Man making is the main motive of The Art of Living. At the AOL head quarters in Bangalore even mundane chores like cooking and serving take magnificent dimensions. Basic human qualities are nurtured in very simple ways.
It is infusing confidence in farming community, takes measures to popularize Organic farming to detoxify the land, which was assaulted by the chemical manure and toxic pesticides. It works towards ushering in a real green revolution with out making the land infertile. Art of Living inspires people to help them selves instead of eternally waiting for governmental help. It propagates the value of AGNIHOTRA YAJNA – traditional Vedic ritual.
SUDHARSHANA KRIYA, is a special breathing technique that rejuvenates the mind and body. The key to understanding the enormous health implications of this yogic discipline and related breathing practices lies in understanding the breath. The breath is the key link between the mind, body, and emotions.

The film The Art of Living not only deals with the different benefits of special breathing techniques and meditation, it also brings forth the ill-effects of terrorism in this world and how the Art of Living helps to combat this enemy of humanity. The film also enunciates the radical change that the Indian Spirituality does to the disease called terrorism.
When asked that with lot of negativity around the world, and the humanity getting extinct, how does ART OF LIVING help in over coming such a situation?
The unpretentious Guru replies with a smile on his face, “Terrorism is a result of narrow mindedness or lack of spiritual awareness in the world. See we have not been globalizing wisdom, we have globalised every thing else, globalized potato chips and pepsi that seems not enough. We need to globalize wisdom. If every child on this planet learns just a bit of VEDANTA, a tiny bit of YOGA, few minutes of YOGA and breathing it is impossible for them to become terrorists. The vaccination against the disease called terrorism is Indian spirituality.”
By controlling the breath and keeping the brain in alpha state, the KRIYA brings about a considerable change in the metabolism of the human body, ensuring blissful, stress less life.
To this the humble GURU replies “We have to make it possible , other wise there is no chance for survival. If AHINSA principles are not adhered to then the world will come to an end… you know!”
2. K. R. Narayanan
Kocheril Raman Narayanan (4 February 1921 — 9 November 2005), also known as K. R. Narayanan, was the tenth President of the Republic of India. He is the only Dalit and the only Malayali to have held the Presidency.
Born in the southern state of Kerala, and after a brief stint with journalism and studying political science at the London School of Economics with the assistance of a scholarship, Narayanan began his public service career in India as a member of the Indian Foreign Service under the Nehru administration. He has served as ambassador to Japan, United Kingdom, Thailand, Turkey, People's Republic of China and United States of America and was referred by Nehru as "the best diplomat of the country".[1] He entered politics at Indira Gandhi's request and won three successive general elections to the Lok Sabha and has served as a Minister of state in the Union cabinet under Rajiv Gandhi. Elected as Vice-President in 1992, Narayanan went on to become the President of India in 1997.
In India, where the office of the President is largely ceremonial without executive powers, Narayanan was regarded as an independent and assertive President who set several precedents and enlarged the scope of the highest constitutional office. He described himself as a "working President" who worked "within the four corners of the Constitution"; something midway between an "executive President" who has direct power and a "rubber-stamp President" who endorses government decisions without question or deliberation.[2] He used his discretionary powers as a President and deviated from convention and precedent in many situations, including - but not limited to — the appointment of the Prime Minister in a hung Parliament, in dismissing a state government and imposing President's rule there at the suggestion of the Union Cabinet, and during the Kargil conflict. He presided over the golden jubilee celebrations of Indian independence and in the country's general election of 1998 became the first Indian President to vote when in office, setting another new precedent.
3. Mubarak Begum
Mubarak Begum is an Indian Ghazal and playback singer. She took her early training from Ustad Abdul Karim Khan.
She started her career with light music recitals with All india Radio, the Indian government radio. Her career as a playback singer with Hindi film industry started when she got a break in the movie "Aaiye" with the song "Mohe Aane Lagi Angrayi, Aja Aja Balam" for composer Shaukat Dehlvi. She also sang a duet with the then upcoming Lata Mangeshkar.
Her struggle, though continued as she was not considered for complete songs, most composers preferring to provide her with only a few lines instead of complete songs.
Even later, when she happened to sing seven songs in the Kamaal Amrohi film "Dairya", the film sank and with that her hopes of making it big in the Hindi film playback industry.
Her big moment, however, finally came when the legendary film maker Bimal Roy gave her the song "Haale Dil Sunayenge" in the film "Madhumati". The song was one among the many hits in the extremely successful movie. But somehow, luck continued to elude Mubarak Begum, with only an occasional hit over the subsequent years. With her soulful voice and melody, and the haunting effect her voice had over listeners, she could not quite reach the heights she ought to have.
A look at some of the well known songs by her makes one wonder why she could not reach the status of a Lata Mangeshkar or Geeta Dutt -
