The Rural Route Film Festival kicks off

The Rural Route Film Festival kicks off tonight (Aug 3) w/a free screening of David Lynch’s “The Straight Story”, and finishes up Sunday w/free beer at New York City’s largest green roof farm!  (See http://rooftopfilms.com for tickets for the limited-capacity green roof farm shows.)  And all weekend long, the core of festival screenings at the Museum of the Moving Image are free w/museum admission!

NIGHT, don’t miss our Opening Night Sneak Preview of Mike Ott’s “LiTTLEROCK”, one of the best reviewed indie fictions of the year!  “When her rental car breaks down on a site-seeing tour of California, a young Japanese woman winds up stranded in a small desert town. The excitement of the new permeates every frame of this intimate evocation...”  That’s Friday night, Aug 5 at the Museum of the Moving Image! (LiTTLEROCK opens @ Cinema Village Aug 12)

 -   It looks like “Greenhorns” director, Severine von Tscharner Fleming will be present for the Sun., Aug 7       screening after all – speeding straight from an oxen workshop in New Hampshire, Sev plans to join in on an      amazing young farmer panel w/an anarchist beekeeper and other ‘prog-ag’ rock stars!

 -   The parking situation has been configured!  Indeed, the Truck Farm itself will be parked right in front of the      museum before/during/after Ian Cheney’s screening on Sat!!!

 -   The one-&-only Jersey Meadowlands sportsman ‘Muskrat John’ (Johnny Rohweder) is making a rare      Hudson River crossing to be at the Sat., Aug 6 show!

 -   Filmmakers of amazing ‘world docs’ from Uganda, Pakistan, Tibet will ALL be present Sat. & Sun. to share       their experiences!

 -   Multiple filmmakers will be around the museum Sunday @ 2 for our super-fun Shorts Program!

 -   Along w/free beer at the closing night rooftop farm screenings, Brooklyn Grange will be selling concession       baskets of vegetables, homegrown on the very roof we’ll be watching films on!

Sundown – David Lynch’s “The Straight Story” - special free kickoff screening (part of Outdoor Cinema 2011 presented by EPIX™ Movie Free-for-All and Socrates Sculpture Park, in collaboration with Museum of the Moving Image and Rooftop Films).

7PM – opening night special sneak preview screening of Mike Ott’s hot new indie feature, “Littlerock” (opens at Cinema Village next week - Aug. 12)
