The forty-eighth Festival La Rochelle Cinéma is under preparation and releases the new poster, superb workDear friends, In a context of growing uncertainty, which no one can ignore, the forty-eighth Festival La Rochelle Cinéma is under preparation. Our programme has been partially revealed in recent weeks with three retrospectives dedicated to Roberto Rossellini, René Clément, and Ida Lupino, three ciné-concert creations, as well as a stop-motion programme (available for download on the website). We are continuing to formulate it. At less than three months from the opening of the festival, we wanted to unveil our poster, as a testament to the progress made, the symbol of an edition whose contours so far remain unclear. It was painted by Stanislas Bouvier, the creator of the festival’s posters for exactly thirty years now. His loyalty and friendship are precious to us. We hope that this subtle and generous artistic gesture will move you, and that we will meet again in late June in La Rochelle to celebrate cinema. The FEMA team A bright road, twisting and turning before disappearing beneath a sky in stormy colours, announces the next festival – a journey through the space-time of cinema. Despite being designed well before the epidemic that is now afflicting the world, this desert landscape lined simply with power poles – symbols of the relationship that people weave among themselves – is also, coincidently, a metaphor for these very unusual days we are experiencing.
