The Departed by Martin Scorsese Closing film of the 6th edition of Film Noir au Canal

The Departed by Martin Scorsese screens this Sunday, August 21

Film Noir au Canal is proud to announce its neo-noir pick for the 2022 season: The Departed (2006) by Martin Scorsese, presented as the closing film of this edition. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson, the four-time Academy Award-winning film will be screened outdoors this Sunday, August 21 at Saint-Patrick Square, at the corner of Wellington and Saint-Patrick streets.

The evening will begin at 6:45 p.m. to the swing rhythm of the trio Mélodie & the Mellow Tones, followed by a presentation of the film by Helen Faradji, film noir specialist and film critic for Radio-Canada.

At 8 p.m., the public will be able to watch The Departed, presented in the original English version with French subtitles. The film follows a Boston policeman, Billy Costigan, who infiltrates the criminal organization that controls the south end of the city, and earns the trust of its boss, Frank Costello. Meanwhile, career criminal Colin Sullivan infiltrates the police department to investigate his activities.
