Hours of meticulous work have gone into the making of Frankenweenie, perfecting the figures and characters that bring this amazing story to life. The BFI London Film Festival is presenting the exhibition in association with Disney and the Festival’s Principal Partner American Express®.

The exhibition captures the magic of the filmmaking process and gives audiences an exclusive glimpse into the stop-motion animation process brought to life by visionary filmmaker Tim Burton. From original sketches drawn by Burton, to extensive props, sets and puppets, the exhibition showcases the artistic detail and vision that has gone into bringing this heart-warming tale to the big screen in 2012’s most highly anticipated animated movie.

The Art of Frankenweenie Exhibition consists of walk-in re-creations of Tim Burton’s desk and several sets used in the film, giving the public an opportunity to peer into the mind of this visionary filmmaker and understand the inner workings of stop-motion animation, from initial concepts through to the animation and production techniques that turn them into a feature-length film.

There will be exciting workshop opportunities for education audiences to explore the production of Frankenweenie via guided tours of the Exhibit, meeting some of the talented people who made the film and trying their hand at the skills required for animation and set design.

The Exhibition is free but tickets must be collected from BFI Southbank Box Office prior to entry from 11am to 8pm daily. Last entry time is 7:30pm.

Tickets are timed to ensure the exhibition doesn’t become too crowded, with times available every half an hour. The Art of Frankenweenie is suitable for all ages and takes approximately 30-40 minutes to see.
