Premieres, Workshops, and Awards.Texas' largest Black film festival kicks off with a VIP Premiere on Wednesday February 3rd, set to be hosted by actor Giancarlo Esposito. The Premiere will feature two short films, the comedic "Thank You For Washing," and the inspirational and powerful one man performance "Empty Spaces." Special Events include: THURSDAY 12:00 NOON -- INDUSTRY WORKSHOP "How to Get that Big Budget Look THURSDAY 6:00PM -- Herskovitz- At The Heart of Blackness (Documentary) Co-Sponsored by the Dallas Holocaust Museum. THURSDAY 8:00PM -- Bridges. Joint Screening with Vistas Film Festival. Featuring four (4) short films sharing a connection between communities. FRIDAY 2:00PM -- Dallas Museum of Art co-sponsored screening of Dream Mali (Berlin) WORLD PREMIERE with O Pintor de Ceos (Vigo-Pontevedra, SPAIN) WORLD PREMIERE. SATURDAY 12:00 NOON -- Frederick Douglass and the White Negro (Documentary) (Dublin, Ireland). Special Audience - Jack & Jill of America, Dallas Chapter. SATURDAY 2:00PM -- KAMP HOLLYWOOD STUDENT FILM SCREENINGS -- Student Workshop hosted by The Movie Institute. TBFF's 42 short films, 9 feature films, 10 documentaries and 1 animation represent one of the best collections of African-American relevant independent films assembled in the southern United States. Fifty-four (54) of the films to be screened are Texas or World Premiere status. Community Partners include the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Holocaust Museum, Texas Film Commission, Dallas Black Firefighters, Jack & Jill of America, Inc., Dallas International Film Festival, and many others. Media sponsors include CBS 11/ TXA 21, KRNB/ K104fm/ KKDA and web media D210TV. TBFF 2010 hopes to promote peace through independent film.
