Sun Valley Film Festival (SVFF) announced today that it will host three events over President’s Day weekend, taking place February 19 and 20 at the Argyros Performing Arts Center.
On Sunday, February 19, SVFF will present an Encore Presentation of National Geographic Documentary Films’ Fire of Love. Directed by Sara Dosa, and narrated by Miranda July, the film is an extraordinary love story of intrepid French scientists Katia and Maurice Krafft, who devoted their lives to uncovering the mystery of volcanoes. The film is Academy Award nominated for Best Documentary Feature. The screening will take place at 2:30 p.m. with a Q&A after with Associate Producer Elijah Stevens. Admission is free and open to the public with priority access for 2023 festival passholders.
Following the screening, at 5:30 p.m., Morning Edition’s George Prentice, in partnership with SVFF and Boise Public Radio, will host a fun, fast-paced showcase of the most talked about films of the season. The event will feature some exclusive moments with the year’s most celebrated storytellers and unveil sneak peek info on the 2023 SVFF slate, along with prizes, games, and plenty of surprises. The event is included with the purchase of a Festival Patron Pass or $10 for general admission.
On Monday February 20 at 5:30 p.m., SVFF will host an advance screening of the third season of the popular Netflix series Outer Banks. Following the screening, actor Charles Esten, creator/showrunner/executive producer Josh Pate and producer Sunny Hodge, will participate in a Q&A about the show. Thanks to the generous support of SVFF patrons, admission is free and open to the public with priority access for festival passholders.
Additionally, SVFF has created a new program to encourage students, to participate in the upcoming Sun Valley Film Festival, taking place March 29 – April 2. Student passes, aimed at high school and college students, are now on sale for only $75. Supporters also have the ability to sponsor a student through the “pass it forward” program for local students. A festival student pass includes admission to five festival films, the Screenwriters Lab, the Sun Valley Jr. Film Competition screening, and meet and greet event. As with all festival passes, student passes receive priority access to screenings and events over individual ticket holders or the general public.
Passes are available for purchase online at www.sunvalleyfilmfestival.org. Follow the festival on Facebook and on Instagram @sunvalleyfilmfest and Twitter @SunValleyFilm. To support and learn more about festival opportunities, visit sunvalleyfilmfestival.org.
