The Stockholm International Film Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a world premiere on ice. The premiere will take place on the 21st of November on an 10 ton cinema screen made of ice in the centre of Stockholm. It will be the first time a feature film is shown on an ice screen. Festival goers are asked to dress warm.

The screen is made from the clearest ice from Torne River next to the Icehotel, inside the Arctic Circle, and was harvested in March in -24 degrees. It will measure 3,5x 4,8 metres and weigh around 10 tons. On the 21st of November it will be erected in the centre of Stockholm.

The festival will have four free outdoor screenings in different locations around Stockholm leading up to the festival, the ice screenings during the first weekend of the festival on the 21st and 22nd of November. The films shown are festival classics and the titles will be revealed closer to the date.
Dates for all four anniversary screenings are 7th, 14th and 21st, 22nd of November and they will be shown in three different locations in central Stockholm.

The Stockholm International Film Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary 2009 and aim to find new ways to show and make film. In 2000 the festival was the first to introduce an internet festival, in 2006 the festival was the first festival in the world to create a competitive section for film made for and on a mobile - Mobile Movies. In 2007 the festival focused on activities on-line and let directors and the audience create film together on-line.
