Sport Movies & TV 2005 – 23rd Milano FICTS Festival kicks in

Sport Movies & TV 2005 – 23rd Milano International FICTS Festival”, organized by FICTS (Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs, recognised by IOC – 94 member countries) has been presented to press by the Festival Director and FICTS International President, Prof. Franco Ascani.

Festival seat will be Palazzo ai Giureconsulti in Piazza Mercanti 2 in Milan.

“Sport Movies & TV 2005” 6 days of Sport, Cinema and TV from all over the world, will be held from the 27th of October to the 1st of November and includes important meetings, presentation of sport stars such as Juri Chechi (Olympic Champion in Atlanta and bronze medal in Athens), Valentina Vezzali (twice Olympic Champion in fencing) and Stefania Bianchini (World boxing and kick-boxing Champion), cinema and TV personalities through meetings, workshops and shows dedicated to different sport themes, such as “Posters of Boxing: from Carnera to Rocky” , 50 posters of movies that have made the history of boxing on the big screen.

The 23rd edition, with free entrance will be held under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, in collaboration with Regione Lombardia – Sports, Youth and Tourist Activities Council (with the presence of Regional Councillor Dott. Piergianni Prosperini) and the Patronage of the City and the Province of Milan (with the presence of the Councillor Irma Dioli) with the participation of Monte dei Paschi di Siena, Ital Brokers and Enel Gas. The inauguration is fixed on Thursday 27th of October at 5 p.m. with the opening of the Show “TORINO 2006: Olympic Winter Games and More” that will be on display in the historical Loggia Mercanti, in front of Festival seat. The show explains the infrastructures of Torino 2006 and represents the main promotional instrument of the next Games, with a surface of 350 square metres and 13 projection points on maxi screens.

The Olympic theme and football will be the headlines of the Opening Ceremony with the presentation of the seats of the next Olympic Games: Torino 2006, Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and London 2012. The Ceremony will end with the projection of the Italian premiere of the movie “Real – La Pelicula”, about the football team Real Madrid, with Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham, Figo and Di Stefano. Two “legends” of Real Madrid and world football: Emilio Butragueno and Francisco Gento, will arrive in Milan together with the director of the movie, Borja Manso, and the Technical Director of Real Madrid, Arrigo Sacchi.

“Sport Movies & TV 2005” consists of 252 projecting hours of videos and programmes dedicated to sport, 196 selected works (the definitive programme and photos of films on www.sportmoviestv.com) showing 46 sport disciplines with the best images from 43 Nations competing in the Festival. On the 1st of November the authors of the winning works in 6 competitive Sections will be awarded with the Guirlande d’Honneur. Another prize will be the “JLC Sport Movies & TV Awards” by Jaeger Le Coultre.
