Six International Guests at 2012 Cartagena International Film Festival

Isabella Rossellini, Claire Denis, Hector Babenco, Gael Garcia, Jorge Perugorria and Rodrigo Santoro to attend 52nd FICCI
The 52nd Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) scheduled from February 23-29 welcomes famed Italian/American actor, director, writer and producer Isabella Rossellini. A tribute to Ms. Rossellini will feature several of her best known films including Blue Velvet, Fearless and The Saddest Music in the World. In addition, special guest French director Claire Denis will be honored and seven of her films will be screened including Le Veilleur (1990), I Can't Sleep (1994) and The Intruder (2004). Brazilian master Hector Babenco (The Kiss of the Spider Woman, Carandirú), Mexican actor Gael Garcia (Bad Education, The Motorcycle Diaries), Cuban actor Jorge Perugorria, star of Fresa y chocolate (1993), and Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro (Carandirú, 300) will also be in attendance.

These guests are yet another FICCI initiative to bring major international icons to the festival; they swell the ranks of famous guests to have attended the festival such as last year's stars Geraldine Chaplin, actors Willem Dafoe and Luis Tosar, screenwriter and director Guillermo Arriaga, directors Arturo Ripstein, Carlos Reygadas, Fernando Trueba and Olivier Assayas.

The 52nd FICCI will feature 12 films in the Official Fiction Competition, 13 films in the Official Documentary Competition, 12 premieres in the 100% Colombia category, most of them world premieres, 20 short films in competition, 11 films in the Gemas category, visits from all the directors with films in the official competitions, award-winning films from the San Sebastian Film Festival, the Film Under the Stars events and many new events, all guaranteeing another memorable edition of this, the oldest film festival in Latin America.
