Single Shot is a multi-platform touring programme in the UK

London Launch - 3rd November

Single Shot - a major new initiative that provokes new ideas about the ways we view, interact with, and understand the moving image - launches in London on 3rd November 2006, the starting-point of a five-month tour of cities across England.

Single Shot is a multi-platform touring programme of moving image works drawing on two distinct commissioning strands; a series of specially commissioned works by well-known artists working in film and video (including George Barber, Ori Gersht and Paul Rooney), and works gathered from an open call for submissions from new talent, seeking out anyone with creative ideas.

Following on from its opening-night salvo as part of a Late at Tate evening at London’s Tate Britain, Single Shot rings out across the capital in a wide-ranging programme of activity that takes place in galleries, cinemas and public screens, and also offers audiences the chance to discover the fifteen Single Shot works in a number of other, more unusual places. At cafes, restaurants, clubs and retail outlets on both sides of the river, as well as passenger boats travelling up and down the Thames, Single Shot scatters an array of creative moving-image works across a series of diverse and intriguing locations (full listings on page two).

After London, Single Shot tours the UK in 2007 to Manchester, Newcastle / Gateshead, Birmingham and Leeds / Bradford (further information available) Single Shot also has an online presence at www.single-shot.co.uk.
Single Shot is the first major new collaboration between UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund and Arts Council England. The project has received additional support from Illy. Single Shot is managed by Film and Video Umbrella and Maya Vision International.
