Santa Fe Independent Film Festival is Named One of "50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee in 2018" for the Sixth Consecutive Year

Six years ago, Santa Fe Independent Film Festival (SFIFF) earned acclaim as one of MovieMaker Magazine’s “50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee.” Having maintained this status every year since 2014, SFIFF is thrilled to announce that it has once again been recognized with this designation.

The fifty festivals receiving this honor will be printed in MovieMaker Magazine’s Spring issue, which will hit newsstands on April 30th. “The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival is another destination fest,” the MovieMaker Magazine article states. “It takes place ‘in a picturesque adobe town nested beneath the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains as the aspens are still changing colors in mid-October,’ per Co-founder and Artistic Director, Jacques Paisner. The festival draws its share of successful moviemakers and other celebrities. Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin bought the treasured local indie theater, the Jean Cocteau Cinema, in 2013. Some of the screenings are held there, and Martin has been a frequent guest at the festival.”

Now in its 11th year, Santa Fe Independent Film Festival takes place October 16-20, 2019, and has evolved into New Mexico’s top film event. "This designation continues to underscore Santa Fe’s specific charm as a city to see films, and SFIFF as the anchor organization for film exhibition and a creative center for filmmaking,” stated Paisner. Santa Fe Independent Film Festival’s regular deadline for submission is May 6th, 2019. Filmmakers can visit SFIFF's website to submit their films.

Gearing up for another spectacular festival, SFIFF is hosting the FILM IS ART fundraising gala at Peters Projects gallery on June 1st. This gala supports the Santa Fe Film Institute and Santa Fe Independent Film Festival while celebrating artistic excellence in film. The FILM IS ART Gala will also feature live music, a silent auction, and a delicious three-course dinner catered by Hotel Santa Fe. Tickets are available here.
